Color, Pattern, Texture: Teak tends to be of a golden or medium brown color darkening with age. Its grain is straight, sometimes can be wavy or interlocked. It contains an uneven texture and a moderate to low natural luster. Some raw or unfinished wood surfaces have a slightly oily or greasy feel due to natural oils.
Common Uses and Applications: Teak can be used for your interior and exterior projects; such as boatbuilding, veneer, exterior furniture, and turnings.
Working Properties: Teak is generally easy to work with, but contains a high level of silica which can have a pronounced blunting effect on cutting edges. With its natural oils, Teak usually glues and finishes well; sometimes is necessary to wipe the surface of the wood with a solvent prior to gluing and finishing to help reduce the oil on the surface.
